Apple released a big update to its MacBook Pro line of notebooks today. The new specs are outstanding, with the processor getting an upgrade to the new Intel Santa Rosa platform, which allows for the memory to max out at 4GB, rather than 3. The new MBP also includes an energy efficient, LED backlit display.

Backlit by light emitting diodes (LEDs), the display weighs less and is more power efficient than the cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) which most notebooks employ, and provides full brightness immediately after the system is turned on.

All in all, this looks like a solid upgrade to a solid line of notebooks.
