As many suspected, Apple has released the iPod Mini. Packing 4GB into a box the size of most cell phones, you can get one for $249.

Not sure what would push someone to go for this smaller version and not plunk down the extra 50 bucks for the new 15GB iPod. The new case has a lot of features that I would have liked to have seen in the 3G iPods, such as the scratch resistant aluminum case. The screen is also recessed to prevent scratches.

If they could have pushed out a 1GB or 2GB version as well, with a slightly smaller price tag ($100 or so?). This new iPod Mini gives you 4GB of space which is room for about 1000 songs.

I think I will stick with my 20GB model.
