Google Redesigns
Google recently launched its redesigned site. It has been in a random preview mode for about a month now. Jesse Ruderman even wrote a favelet that would let you see it all the time.
The new homepage is more minimalistic than its predecessor. Google has done away with the tabs for the different search functions, and gone with an overall simpler, stripped down look.
I am not sure I like it all that much. Something about it seems…too minimal. I liked the tab system they used to let you know which part of the site you were in, be it Image Search or Web Search.
Others seem to share my sentiment:
If Google was really doing an all out redesign, why did they not attempt standards-compliant code. Even standard HTML would have been nice, but they don’t even declare a doctype.

I think it’s because their too busy being brilliant billionaires to care about good code. I’d respect them more if they’d even try.

I don’t like it either. I catch myself looking for a certain tab or button (I use google about zillion times a day, on average).
I couldn’t care less about HTML compliance, however. Google is perfectly browsable via Links, my old Mozilla, let alone newer browsers. Who cares *shrug*? Will you stop using it, anyway? :-P
