Kinetic Communications launched a redesign of the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau website today.

This new site employs the use of standards-compliant XHTML for structural, semantic markup and CSS to style the markup.

Converting from a site that relied heavily on nested tables, depricated <FONT> tags, and images, the load time for the site has improved by 30-50%, and most pages have been reduced by as much as 50% in filesize. The index page alone was reduced from 17K to 5K, and the content is still the same.
