IE6 in XP SP2 RC2 too secure?
So this morning I was using my XP machine. I fired up IE to register an account at a certain site giving away ipods.
I decide to complete an offer for ebay to get my credit. I click on over, create my ebay account and get ready to login. I enter my username and password, and hit enter. Wait…what is this. My browser doesn’t accept cookies?
That’s right. The new IE6 in the latest Release Candidate for XP Service Pack 2 does not allow cookies (at least not from ebay) by default.
No problem. I figure I will just go into my security settings and enable cookies. I actually had to set my browsers security setting to Low to get the login to work. Now granted I probably could have messed around with the advanced settings a bit and gotten the cookies to work without having to dumb down my security settings. But what do you think Grandma Smith is going to do when she can’t get into ebay on her new XP computer that came pre-installed with XP Service Pack 2?
