Firefox 1.0 Preview Release and Thunderbird o.8
The Firefox 1.0 Preview Release has been released. Back in August, the official roadmap for Firefox was modified and the 1.0 release was pushed back from September 14 to sometime in early October.
Along with the Preview Release, they have also issued new versions of Thunderbird (0.8) and the Mozilla Suite (1.7.3). I use Thunderbird for all of my non-work related e-mail and I have thoroughly been impressed with it. I am eager to test this newest release of Thunderbird because it included a new feature, built in RSS support. The Firefox PR also features built in RSS reading via the bookmarks, taking a cue from Safari 2.0.
Another “get the word out” initiative has also been launched by the Mozilla Foundation. Spreadfirefox.com is a site that is promoting 1 million downloads in 10 days. As of this posting, they are at just under 6500 in 7 hours.
More to come on both of these products as I get them installed and use them over the next day or two.
