Comments Are Back

After returning home from the holiday, I had received an e-mail suggesting I try the Spaminator Plugin for WordPress. I have installed it and re-enabled comments, so we will see how it does. I checked e-mail after being offline all of Friday and most of Saturday, and I had about 150 comment spam posted to my site.

Thank God for Mass Edit Mode.

In other news, I have settled on getting the Canon PowerShot A75. From the reviews I have read, and the opportunities I have had to play around with it at in-store displays, I think I will be happy with it.

I have a very effective anti-spam protection right now: my comments stopped working, and I haven’t bothered to fix it yet. Heh.

My brother has the PowerShot A75 and really likes it. I wasn’t in love with the bulge where the batteries are, but he says it’s a great place to hold the camera.

I have a compact PowerShot SD110 (3.2), and it’s been great. It doesn’t have as many manual controls as the A75, but the image quality is pretty much identical.

I’m impressed with the Canon line of cameras.

Jeremy - I’ve been looking at some of the same camera models you mentioned. Trying to decided b/t the Powershot A75 and the CoolPix 3200. I have an old CoolPix 2100 at work and it’s okay. I like the size but I’m not overly impressed with the quality - that’s probably b/c it’s just a 2MP.

Walmart.com has dropped the price on both cameras to around $175.

Joseph - I have been really happy with the Canon now that I have used it for a few days. It has a little bit better optical zoom (3x vs. the nikon’s 2x), plus it uses CompactFlash, of which I already have several cards.

I got mine at OfficeMax this past weekend for $199 with a free 128mb CF card.
