Allman Brothers Band at Oak Mountain

Wow. The guys blew me away again. Skynyrd opened and was alright. They were good, but they should be since they probably play the same set every night. The Freebird closer was cool (and expected - complete with bird statue) and it was cool when they played Sweet Home Alabama since that is where they were.
The Allman Brothers Band came on about 9:00 and kicked into Revival right off the bat. Then it was Wasting Time, End of the Line and Worried Down With The Blues. Midnight Rider was up next, then straight into Statesboro Blues. THEN, they launched into The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down! Coming out of nowhere there. Rocking Horse was kickin as usual. They played a new song next that I missed the name of.
After some on stage discussion between Warren, Derek and Gregg, they launched into Dreams > Mountain Jam > Drums > Bass > Mountain Jam. What kind of crazy run is that?
One Way Out closed out the regular set with Southbound as the encore.
Warren and Derek were ripping it up tonight. I am consistently impressed by Derek’s style of playing (almost a plucking kind of thing), and Warren was a powerhouse as usual. Can’t wait to see him with Gov’t Mule in June. Oteil tore it up on the bass during his solo into the final part of Mountain Jam.
I would have loved to hear Whipping Post and/or Elizabeth Reed, but I came away happy.
