Still Here

Yes, I am still here. Work has been busy lately, and the family and I took a vacation this past weekend to unplug for a while. A few quick notes:

  • I finally got a new camera. I decided on the Canon S2 IS and I have been enjoying it immensley. You can see some of the photos I have taken with it on my Flickr Photostream.
  • We got Jana a Palm TX this past weekend. It is the first Palm device we have ever had, and I may end up having to get one for myself before all is said and done. The main thing I like about it is that it is WiFi enabled, so it is easy to get online when you are out an about and free wireless is within range. The only thing I don’t like about it is that the browser on the Palm, named Blazer, does not offer many options for viewing sites. It will read and render CSS (even the media type “screen”) and images, unless you switch it to fast mode, which disables all CSS and images. I have yet to figure out if there is a way for it to understand the “handheld” media while ignoring “screen”.
  • I missed SXSW this year, although the blog and Flickr posts made it almost seem like I was there. Instead, I will be attending An Event Apart in Atlanta in 2 weeks.
  • I have moved Will’s site over to my Dreamhost account. I discovered that I can host multiple domains with a single account, and since they are giving me 20GB of storage and 1 Terabyte of bandwidth, I am going to slowly migrate all my stuff over to that account. That means that this site will be moved soon and things may get a little whacked out. I will also be upgrading to WordPress 2.0 and probably redesigning the sit in the process.
  • My RSS feed seems to be on the fritz. I am using a WordPress plugin to redirect to my Feedburner feed, but I think it is starting to freak out. I have noticed days at a time that my Feedburner will not record any stats, then all of a sudden it will work again. Very Odd.
  • I launched a redesign of the IPSA website a few weeks ago. It was good to get the site updated with a fresh look and a good code-base. I am also using Textpattern for the backend, which makes editing the content of the site a lot easier.
