City Stages Podcasts
Birmingham’s annual music festival, City Stages, is quickly approaching. They have another stellar line-up this year. My favorite day is probably going to be Sunday, with Oteil and the Peacemakers, Zac Brown Band, and The Derek Trucks Band gracing the Miller Lite stage. The day will be topped off by the Allman Brothers Band. Yes, indeed. A great day of music for all.
There are other great acts booked for this year, with something for everyone. The Beach Boys will be headlining the Coca-Cola Classic stage Sunday. Hank Williams, Jr. will be bringing all his rowdy friends to town to headline the same stage on Saturday.
On Friday, North Mississippi Allstars will be taking the stage for the second year in a row, followed by a combined performance with John Hiatt. Los Lonely Boys will also be in town again. They had a great performance two years ago.
The City Stages crew is trying something new this year. They are releasing podcasts that talk about the different performers and stages. Its a neat concept, and lets those that are thinking of coming get an idea of what to expect. The also have an online jukebox that plays sample tracks from many of the artists scheduled to appear.
If you are in/around Birmingham this Father’s Day Weekend, take a trip downtown and check out City Stages.
