Apple Mac Pro
At WWDC06 today, Apple’s Phil Schiller introduced the last Apple system to make the transition to Intel - the Mac Pro. From the exterior, it looks almost identical to the PowerMac G5, except for the second media bay on the front.
On the inside, everything has changed. The Mac Pro now sports Intel Xeon (Woodcrest) processors, capable of speeds up to 3Ghz. It will host up to 16GB of RAM and 2 TB of hard drive space. It has FireWire 800, as well as a larger graphic card slot for bigger cards (editing) and 4 PCI Express Slots on the back. It also has BlueTooth and Airport.
The standard configuration of dual 2.66 Xeon, 1 GB RAM, a Geforce 7300 GT, and a SuperDrive is just $2499. You start there and build up to what you need. The closest thing from Dell is almost $1000 more.
