BarCampBirmingham Update
A few of us involved in putting BarCampBirmingham together had a lunch meeting last week. Things really seem to be coming together for this event. We have secured a location for the “unconference” portion. We will be setting up camp at Mountaintop Church in Vestavia Hills, a city just south of Birmingham (”over the mountain”, for the locals). We are also holding a mixer event on Friday night at Jim N’ Nicks in Southside. This will just be a time to get together and meet some of the folks you will be spending all day Saturday with.
We are slowly getting sponsors in place to cover different aspects of the event. TechBirmingham has committed to providing lunch on Saturday, which will allow us to keep the momentum going on site rather than having to move elsewhere. IPSA will be sponsoring T-shirts for the attendees, and we have some definite leads on other companies and organizations that want to help out in one way or another.
So if you are interested in coming, head on over to the BarCampBirmingham page and check it out. Sign-up on the Registry page if you plan on attending the Mixer, the Event or both. If you aren’t quite sure what BarCamp is, Digital Web Magazine recently published an article on Understanding The Unconference. It talks about the BarCampBoston event and paints a good picture of what to expect from the event.
