Apple Boot Camp 1.1

Apple has updated Boot Camp yet again. The last update was back in early July, although no details were ever released on what exactly pushed it to the 1.0.2 version number.
This update, version 1.1, seems to have some great additions to it, including support for built-in iSight cameras and microphones. It also looks like you can install it on any internal disk, not just the startup disk. This feature was probably added for the benefit of Mac Pro users, since it can have up to 4 internal hard drives. Some people have reported that this means you can install Windows XP on external drives now. However, this Apple Support Doc says you can’t.
With Boot Camp Beta 1.1 or later, yes, but you can install only one Windows partition on any of your computer volumes. The Setup Assistant will allow you to partition drives, or to install Windows XP on an entire drive if it does not contain Mac OS X. Note: You cannot install Windows XP on an external hard drive.
If you read a little further in the documentation, you see that the Startup Disk Panel in Windows XP doesn’t recognize external Firewire or USB drives.
External FireWire and USB disks will not be recognized by the Startup Disk control panel in Windows XP. If you want to start from a bootable external disk, hold the Option key as the computer starts up, then select the external disk.
Again, it looks like the main reason for this update is to add support for the iSight and internal microphone and to allow the new Mac Pro users to install XP on one of their 4 available drives (if they go with that option).
Happy camping.
