Google Maps Adds Embedding Feature

Tags: , , , .

The Google Maps team announced a new feature today. You can now embed a Google Map on your own site with just a few clicks. This type of feature has been available on sites like YouTube.

Before this feature was launched, the only way to embed a Google Map on your site was to use the Google Map API. If you knew a thing or two about Javascript, this was an easy solution. If you didn’t, you were kind of left out.

The nice thing about this new feature is that it can be used with a normal Google Map or with a custom map created using the recently launched “My Maps” feature. To embed a map, just browse to the location you want or go to your custom map and click on the “Link To This Page” link. You can then grab the code that generates the map using an iframe and paste it into your site.

Learn more about the new feature at the Google Maps blog.
