Birmingham Alabama Apple Store Finally Opening
Several online sources (TUAW, ifoAppleStore) are reporting that the new Apple Store at The Summit - Birmingham will finally open its doors during a Grand Opening this Saturday, April 14.
There haven’t been any reports by local news outlets here in Birmingham about the grand opening. I definitely plan on being there. I wonder if they will do t-shirts for the first X number of shoppers?

I just got the money together to buy a MacBook Pro, my first Mac ever, and was planning on placing the order online sometime this week. I wonder now if I should wait until Saturday. I was planning on doing a couple of upgrades, mainly a bigger hard drive, but I guess they can do that kinda thing in the store, can’t they?

Nice. I wish we’d get one in our neck of the woods. The nearest Apple store is two hours away (in Atlanta). There’s a huge void between Atlanta and Charlotte…

I have a friend that is working at the store. It is indeed opening April 14th. She also told me that the first 500-1000 will get free tshirts. She wasn’t sure the exact number of shirts they’ll have to give out, so be early. I’ll definitely be there as well to enjoy the grand opening.

The store will open sometime in the next few months in a space that is now occupied by an Eddie Bauer store. [...] Considering the hoopla that normally surrounds the opening of an Apple Inc. retail store, it was a little surprising that more was not being made about the opening of the newest store at The Summit besides the buzz in the local blogosphere (especially Jeremy). Well, doubts have been laid to rest with the release this morning of a press release officially announcing the opening, scheduled for this Saturday, April 14.
