Deadlines Looming

I can feel it creeping up.

As I mentioned the other day, I am going to be the featured speaker in February at the monthly meeting. I will be speaking on the subject of Web Standards. Not really getting into any specifics (only about 45 minutes speaking time), but more just a general overview of what they are and how they can be beneficial to designers and their clients, with a little bit of history thrown in.

Problem is, I haven’t even started to prepare. Sure, I could stand up there and ramble on for the alloted time about standards, but unless I have some specific notes in front of me, I can get really off track (thanks ADD!). I used to do this in college. I would wait til the night before a paper on Italian Renaissance Art or Modern Impressionists was due, and just stay up all night writing. Last minute panic inspires greatness, or something like that.

At anyrate, I guess I will get started on it soon. I am having trouble deciding how I want the subject matter to flow. How much should I get into CSS and XHTML? Skim the surface and give resources?
